Title: When The Rain Took Over

Rain, rain, go away;
Come again another day;
Little Arthur wants to play.

(traditional nursery rhyme)

On Aug 20th, 2014 it was the wedding of two lovers: Amber and Michael
Amber’s childhood dream was for her wedding to be large and glamorous.
She always wanted her wedding to be outdoors, by the beach.
After the engagement, she started planning her dream wedding.
The wedding decorations were phenomenal including the flowers, which were white roses and white peonies along with wooden chairs, which had, gold trimming.
The bridesmaids’ dresses were exceptionally beautiful because of the silk material and the coral color made the whole atmosphere lively and bright! And of course all the bridesmaids looked lovely in their coral silk dresses.
She set up an orchestra to play at the ceremony and a concert for the reception.
She also planned a yacht for guests to admire the view of Bora Bora.
For the reception she planned for a ball one that is only seen now in Disney movies! She wanted the ball to be a mixture of salsa, waltz, tango and swing. She made sure all the guests were enjoying and participating in the dances.
Unfortunately, Amber made one large mistake, she did not consider or even think to check the weather forecast before planning all the events for her wedding!
Since she only wanted her wedding to be outdoors she forgot to plan an alternative of an indoor wedding in case of rain. As she started to walk up the aisle, the storm clouds approached and the next thing you know it started to pour!
All the guests scattered looking for shelter but the nearest shelter was miles away! Sadly, all the bridesmaids’ dresses were ruined because of the silk material and all the decorations were ruined as well. Upset and frustrated, Amber runs away from the chaos to a deserted area of the beach. Crying hysterically she sings to herself, “ Rain, rain, go away; come again another day”. As she wipes, Little Arthur, the cat Amber and Michael have shared for many years runs up to her and wants to play! Seeing how happy Little Arthur was made Amber realize that the love she shared with Michael was more important than her perfect wedding! So she returns to the wedding with little Arthur prepared to take her vows and enjoy the rain!

The Happy Couple
Author’s note: This story is based on the nursery rhyme, “Rain, rain go away” which is used in the story above. The original rhyme can be found from the Nursery Rhyme Book, which was rewritten by Andrew Lang (1897). The rhyme made me think about how rain can ruin major plans like weddings that could result in a disaster which alternatives weren’t taken care of.  Therefore, for my story I chose a wedding scenario because though all the decorations and dresses were perfect, the rain may have ruined the hard work put into the event but not the love shared between the two. The title I chose for this story gives a hint that the rain could potentially ruin the event if one allows it to. I chose “Little Arthur” as the cat shared by the two because it’s cute and furry and one cannot get mad at.
